As much as we’d love the story of Roberta Grumple and her founding of The Old Amersham Bookshop to be true, sadly it’s entirely made up. This site is run by the team at Thinking Fox, a creative WordPress development agency based in Amersham, who specialise in designing, building, and supporting websites for Authors and Publishers of all sizes.

First up, we absolutely love books. We may have also had a teeny-tiny glass of wine and were maybe, just maybe, reflecting on the lack of bookshops in town centres these days; not only in Amersham but across the whole country. Libraries too are closing and SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT IT!

Well, that’s where we got to after half a bottle of the local wine shop/bar’s finest Valpolicella.

Once we’d stopped shouting, we thought we’d start with bringing back a bit of fun into the world of books, and see how it goes from there.

Simply put, they’re all books we’ve read and enjoyed, and we like to think you’ll love them as much as we do.

We’re always open to suggestions of course, but you should see the pile of books we’re already working our way through!

We’re based in Old Amersham, virtually, but our team live and work all over the place in this new age of remote working. We don’t forsee a time when we’ll ever have an office again, although a proper bricks and mortar book store with a decent cafe/bar and deli area may not be completely off the cards.

In the meantime, we run the occasional Author workshops or Book Club events, and we’re thinking about getting our hands dirty with popup shops at the local markets and fayres.
